About MV-Weather.com

MV-Weather.com is based in Mission Viejo, California. Located at the base of the Santa Ana Mountains, 8 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean and about halfway between LA and San Diego. The coordinates are 33.619 Lat., -117.661 Lon. and is at an altitude of 575 feet above sea level. The weather station has been online is March 2006 and has been hosted at MV-Weather.com since March 2009.

The station is a wireless Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus 6163 with UV and Solar Radiation sensors and a fan-aspirated radiation shield for more accurate temperature readings in direct sun. It is attached via a Davis Weather Envoy to a Dell P4 PC with 512MB of RAM running Windows 2003 Server. The weather software being used is Davis Weatherlink as the primary database as well as generating the historical data. All real-time data including the graphs and gauges are generated using Virtual Weather Station from Ambient Weather. The website was designed using Adobe Dreamweaver CS4.

Weather has long been an interest of mine going back to when I was a kid and first got the Weather Channel in the early 80s. I was fascinated whenever a storm would roll through, which was quite often back on the East Coast. The weather is far more tame in southern California but it is still fascinating all the same. I also have loved computers since about the same age when I got my first PC, a Timex Sinclair 1000. 2kb of RAM and a cassette deck, baby! Combining the two into a weather website was just the logical next step. Affordable, high-quality weather equipment and cheap bandwidth make possible today what no hobbyist could imagine even just 10 years ago.

In addition to MV-Weather.com, the data is also transmitted to WUnderGround.com, WeatherforYou.com, CWOP (Citizens Weather Observer Project) and the SouthWestern Weather Network.

Check out our personal site, www.RobNLisa.net for more information about me as well as VegasCasinoInfo.com, my website dedicated to one of my other passions, Las Vegas! Thanks for stopping by MV-Weather.com and I hope you make this a regular stop whenever you need the latest Mission Viejo weather information.
